I personally really enjoy this game. I usually don't like souls-like games; I see a lot of people saying it's a poor imitation of dark souls, and maybe that's why I like it. The combat feels good. The scaling feels pretty decent. The lore is pretty good. There's a lot of customizations and unlockable starting characters. This might be a "babys first souls-like" to veteran souls game players but there are a lot of modifiers to up the difficulty. As someone who has played many of the souls games, the difficulty can be intimidating. Getting to the fun parts takes a lot of time and commitment. Often there's nothing to really grab onto until you develop the skillset to play it. If that's the only thing you have to play or your a masochist you'll figure it out eventually but if you have other unplayed games, they become a lot more tempting. Once you begin to win fights and find items then it becomes fun and rewarding even if takes tons of deaths. Rather because it takes a ton of deaths. I never felt like LoTF was impossible for me. There was always a clear point where I could see where I messed up and had to get better at the game. It wasn't easy for me, I die alot. I highly recommend this to people who have wanted to get into souls like games but struggled to understand the appeal. It does a good job at designing memorable bosses without being ridiculously sadistic. I look forward to unlocking every character and achievement. I do have some criticism about the game though. The game constantly pings servers Google, and progress isn't tracked offline, not even game time. You will have to go online and launch the game before it registers any achievements. The game isn't really meant to be played offline. My in-game time is wrong because I played for a good while offline before I realized it wasn't tracking anything.

I think on discount this game is worth while. It was alright overall but lacked the spark that made me really interested in immersing myself in the world.. The umbral mechanic is fine? I never felt happy to have to use it while exploring. Enemy variety is lacking overall leading to a lot of similar fights across all areas. Bosses are a mixed bag, often too easy but there were a few that at least forced you to get comfortable with their moves. Worth at least one playthrough for most souls-like fans but additional/achievement runs are likely not. TLDR: Buy on sale and experience it once

3/10 [ *BOUGHT ON SALE*] Load Problems/Visual Bugs The Lantern/Umbral mechanic is forced on you.. not only is there an immortal effect on enemies.. It makes exploration + ranged/spellcasting tedious. Seeing a "Boss" as a regular mob is heinous. Game turns into an enemy spam death-run simulator. Weak parry mechanics :c (one of my favorite parts of a "Souls-Like") Oh, and the STEALTH SKELLY with the aim-bot bow can go FECK himself! (sexy BONE style)

This ♥♥♥♥ is lit. I didnt expect to like it as much as I have The Umbral implementation is wild and keeps things interesting. The only downside IMO is the lack of weapon variety for Inferno, certainly feels that way. Other than that, this is a 10/10 and I cant wait for LOTF2, day one buy.
