How Steam Sale Prices Work on VaultX
When a game you're looking at is on a live Steam sale, VaultX shows the discounted price in LKR, based on Steam's current sale price rather than the full price. You pay the sale price in 3 interest-free installments with Koko, exactly like any other purchase on VaultX.
On a game's page, a sale that has a known end date shows a "Sale ends in" countdown, counting down to when VaultX stops honoring that price — not necessarily the exact moment Steam's sale itself ends. That's because VaultX stops offering the sale price 2 hours before Steam's own sale end time. This gap exists so that an order can't be placed, in the final minutes of a sale, for a price that Steam has already moved on from by the time it's processed.
If Steam hasn't given us a known end date for a particular sale, VaultX still shows the discounted price, but without a countdown — in that case the price simply follows Steam's own discount until Steam's data changes, rather than being cut off early. The 2-hour buffer only applies once there's an actual end date to count down to.
Because of that gap, and because Steam can end or change a sale at any time, the price you saw when you added a game to your cart isn't guaranteed to still be valid by the time you check out. Before an order is created, VaultX checkout re-checks the price of every Steam game and edition in your cart, fetching the live price from Steam for any game that is on sale. If a price has changed, checkout stops and shows you a popup with the updated price — you can then choose to continue at the new price or remove that item.
This works in both directions: if a sale ended, started, or a price otherwise changed between you viewing the page and checking out, you'll see the popup before you pay, and you decide whether to continue.
