The game is mostly just obtuse and poorly balanced.

The in-mission turn based gameplay of shooting, managing injuries, and exploring the maps is fun, but the out of mission management elements are convoluted and mind-numbingly tedious. 90% of mission rewards are just useless garbage (and you don't know what a mission will reward until after you complete it). Ship upgrade materials are so rare they are basically non-existent. The trading system doesn't let you buy or sell things that are actually useful in the missions (ammo, medicine, food). The game never explains how any of its mechanics work beyond the absolute basics. And the UI is clunky and hard to use. I dunno. It seems like there is a lot of potential, but an extremely sloppy execution.
