⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really fun platformer! I loved the gameplay, and the character was absolutely adorable. The story was cute, and the little bits of humor sprinkled throughout certain stages made it even more enjoyable. The Easter eggs from the devs were especially funny and definitely caught me off guard a few times. 😂 I originally played this with my duo, but I eventually ended up playing solo coz I'm a pro. Whether you play co-op or single-player, though, it’s fun either way. Shoutout to one of the devs, for being so helpful whenever I hit a roadblock. You literally helped me 100% the game! Definitely recommend giving this one a try! 💖
fun with a wife
Act 3 Level 1 , insane difficulty
What a lovely passion project of a game. It's obvious that the developer has a deep appreciation for the collectathon platformer genre and poured his/her memories into the game. In terms of positives, the sheer amount of level variety is a huge highlight, as each one feels distinct and snappy with little wasted time or obvious re-used visuals. The controls around the basic jump, double jump, attack, and roll all feel as responsive as they should. The silly, whimsical atmosphere that the game goes for matches the overall difficulty and level progression of the game, and I appreciated the levity provided by the various NPCs. One could critique the quality of the voice acting, but it never particularly bothered me given the general indie vibe of the game. Plus, the berry voice was a very cute bit of child acting. The costumes are also varied and fun to switch between, and the fact that all of them are earnable fairly quickly in game is always appreciated. In terms of cons, I did have a control issue that popped up three times over the course of my playthrough. The absorption mechanic would just stop working for whatever reason, and a full game shutdown was required in order to fix the issue. Exiting to the main menu did not fix it. In addition, some of the moves feel a bit superfluous in the grand scheme of things. The ground pound, for example, doesn't really provide a benefit until act 4, as most other uses of the ability require the Rock form to access most collectibles. I did appreciate that some of the transformations were just for general silliness, and I would not hold their inclusion against the game. My last point on the controls is that the double jump into parachute combo didn't seem to work consistently. Sometimes Teeto would remain extremely elevated and descend slowly, but other times he'd lose a significant portion of his height immediately and fall faster than normal. It seemed to be based on the height of the platform that I was jumping to, but I couldn't quite pin down the cause. In terms of the level design, some of them have an issue with wide open spaces with little to do in them. The biggest example that springs to mind was the finale of the sewer, which has this gigantic room that only serves to house a water wheel on the left wall and the exit on the far wall. It really only stands out in this situation because of how tightly designed some of the other levels are. Overall, I think Teeto is a fantastic entry into the collectathon genre that is perfect for younger audiences (even if it includes words like "kill" or "damnation"). I also applaud the developer for this independent project, and I look forward to whatever they make next.
