why is this game dead?
The aesthetics, graphics, environment, and lore are all excellent. My only real issue is the genre: as an extraction shooter, I think the game lacks longevity. That's not to say the genre can't succeed (Arc Raiders and Escape from Tarkov prove it can), but it doesn't offer the longevity of other formats. Battle royales like Fortnite and Warzone get seasonal story expansions, and Fortnite in particular keeps things fresh with a steady stream of collabs that make its skins and story as bizarre and captivating as it is. Marathon has seasonal story expansions too, but the core loop doesn't support the attention grabbing aspect that I would expect since it was just a reset of your inventory/vault with nothing crazy being added in the second season. Yes the nightmaps and new shell were fun to play with for a while but it generally stayed the same. Can't really say whether that's a good or bad thing since its good that they're not throwing all their cards on the table but also underfeeding the players of content isn't really what I'd say is the move either. Again just the way I see it. The biggest weakness is the contracts. They feel like small, meaningless tasks for extra XP, which is essentially what they are. I'd love to see more game modes, or temporary map-altering objectives built around the extraction format. The sponsored event or where one team infiltrates with a bunch of rooks roaming around, is a good starting point, but I'd want contracts that visibly reward your effort. One example is the contract where you hijack a giant lockdown ship to broadcast a message from Mida across the entire region for everyone to see. More moments like that would make contracts feel worthwhile. (maybe im a bot who hasn't reached the higher level contracts yet but still) On the topic of skins, this is an observation rather than a criticism. I've heard that Bungie's designers have struggled to create new skins without compromising each Shell's silhouette, a problem similar to Rivals, where earlier in the year you can't tell whether the blonde, white woman you're pushing is a tank or a support. I love the game's artistic direction, and I still believe it can become something better. If I were being petty about not finding good teammates, I would have clicked "No" on recommending it. But I can see its potential, even if it's slowly dying.

yknow i'd reccomend this game if bungie just idk let people play this on linux :D
I don't recommend this game personally. I decided to give it a try despite it not being all too popular. The movement feels slow and clunky, the weapons don't have an oomph and they're not fun to use, the map is interesting but feels empty at times, and the worse is that the characters look like something a roblox dev would make.

Really wanted to believe in this game because I love Destiny and Bungie but this game is absolute garbage, just not fun to play, none of the charm that Destiny had, nothing memorable or interesting in the combat, I would not buy this game for $5 honestly.
