Two old favourites and two great new additions
a bit expensive for 3 new dinosaurs but still cool. but...I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE JEHOLOPERUS YOU OWE US DONT TRY AND HIDE IT FRONTIER!
is this DLC worth it? kind of, I do like the delux skins and the guanlong, but don't really use the other 3 dinosaurs. get this DLC on sale
Pros: [list] [*] Its a dinosaur game [*] Workshop and blueprints allowing you build and prefabricate custom structures or landscapes which you can then share with others or you can download some pretty stunning creations others have made. [*] Water effects are stunning and the way dinosaurs interact with water is much improved from the previous 2 titles (They swim now). More terrain tools are available allowing some fantastic habitats to be created. [*] More genetic customisation. The animals have sexual dimorphism now (except the mutant hybrids) [*] You can breed the animals!!! This a massive improvement upon the previous games. Not only that but offspring can inherit genetic traits creating lineages. Each species (Apart from mutants) has a family unit of 3 models instead of just 1 now. [*] The campaign isn't a bore fest like it was in the 2nd game. [*] Free dinosaur updates, there's less paid DLCs and more regular and free content releases! Compared to previous 2 games. [*] Doesn't feel like your micromanaging to maintain the park's infrastructure as much as you did in the 2nd game. [*] Dinosaurs escaping and eating the guests will never not be funny Cons: [*] Marine, Aviary animals and their environments aren't much improved since their addition from the second game. [*] Some animals still have paleo inaccurate diets, especially Marine and Aviary animals. Piscivores that are also carnivorous still don't eat meat or hunt but the Piscivores that eat plants still have their a mixed diet. Pterosaurs that eat and hunt meat still just eat fish and hover about. Some animals have negative genetic traits which doesn't even match the lore from the film franchise, like the whole premise of the latest film rebirth big animals having long lives, in the game some of them have negative short lifespans genetic traits, yh its a nit pick but just odd that stuff like that hasn't been streamlined. [*] Occasional bugs from the 2nd game still happen. Dinosaurs still do that annoying thing were they split off from their group randomly. This fractures territory in the enclosure causing problems since dinosaurs either don't have enough in their group to be happy or lack food and environmental needs. It's probably one of the most frustrating aspects of gameplay in this game. The animals getting stuck bug still happens, requiring you to tranq the animal to unbug it, otherwise they starve to death. It easy to unbug, but still annoying that pops up. [*] Animals don't really socially interact that much in a group, no real herding/ shoaling/ flocking behaviour. Combat/hunting in a group is still lacking. There's not much courtship behaviour either. Unfortunately unlike most of my cons of this game, I don't think this is one that the devs will able to address in the life cycle of this game. [*] The game is still missing some animal feeder options, still no cow feeder from the OG Jurassic park game or herbivore feeders from the first JWE game, the lack of ammonite feeder for marine is quite remarkable going into the 3rd game. The 2nd game introduced a insect feeder which was kinda of cool, but its no longer an option thus far. [*] Park guests still don't feel real or relevant to the success of the park. [*] Perhaps a controversial criticism, but you still can't eliminate dangerous dinosaurs by shooting them with bullets from your ranger/Dino security team rifles. Its strange because you can pit dinosaurs against each for sport, set them upon the guests (where they can quite graphically eat people), you can also let them starve to death and feed them live animals etc, plenty of inhumane acts. But shooting a dinosaur with a bullet is still a no no, even though it happens in the films and the OG Jurassic Park game. Also even from a welfare perspective euthanasia would be an option for veterinarian care. It does feel like a missing mechanic that game needs, not sure if its an age rating thing or something the devs just don't want in the game stopping it from being introduced. Hopefully its a mechanic in the next game. Overall if you like theme park, animal management games I would recommend this. If you played the first Jurassic world evolutions or OG Jurassic Park game, definitely give this one a shot. If you just like dinosaurs, its a blast just creating prehistoric environments on Sandbox creative mode so you can play with the photo mode. I think compared to alot of games these days its worth the money for a relatively stress free game (Especially if its on sale!) that delivers on the premise of a dinosaur theme park. I would say though if you played JWE 2 and were looking at giving this a go, JWE 3 doesn't feel as much as of radical step forward from 2-3 as it did from the first to second game in the series. Like breeding dinosaurs is a huge step forward but everything else is a fairly minor improvement upon the 2nd game to the point it does feel like JWE 3 is more a dinosaur breeding DLC for the JW2 at times. So if your a bit on fence and the breeding mechanics isn't enough of a draw I'd probably wait and see if they release an Aviary and Marine DLC/update down the line because this game really needs it to help it to take that step clear above its predecessor.
it's only really worth it if it's on a sale because it adds cool things to the game but its not worth 16 bucks on its own
