Finally, a Bond film you get to play
I've just rolled the credits on 007 First Light, and what a ride it was. More than anything, this game nails the feeling of stepping into a James Bond film. The atmosphere, the direction and that effortless Bond style carried me from the very first scene to the last. Patrick Gibson makes a wonderfully charming young Bond, the writing has real wit, and the big set pieces feel like they came straight out of the cinema. What I loved

A rich, cinematic atmosphere that pulls you right in
I genuinely felt like Bond, not just another action hero with a gun
Clever gadgets, punchy close combat and plenty of freedom in how to tackle a situation
It kept me hooked all the way to the end
Where the illusion slipped a little

Driving: the cars handle in a rather wacky, floaty way, and for me the driving sections were the weakest part of the game.
Rough edges: now and then a texture looks a bit off, some animations aren't quite as smooth as everything around them, and I hit the odd physics hiccup.
A touch of repetition: a few sequences repeat themselves, and the combat can start to feel familiar after a while. Truth be told, I hardly minded – I was having far too much fun being 007.
Aiming: the default sensitivity felt a little loose to me, so it's worth tweaking in the settings before you start.
A little tip for PC players If you want to take the immersion even further, mods are a great way to do it. I hid most of the HUD, ran a DLSS Neural Rendering mod with three passes at a smooth 70 FPS in 3440x1440, and played with a small mod of my own that turns every hit into a headshot. With that setup, even the quieter moments felt like a scene from a film. The verdict It isn't flawless – the driving, a few rough edges and a bit of repetition keep it from perfection. But as a Bond experience, it's an absolute treat. If you've ever wanted to be 007 for a while, this is your chance. I'd happily play it again - or the next "movie" for sure ;)
This is a decent Bond film and a poor video game. The Good: - Nice looking visuals - Captures the feel of a Bond movie adapted for modern tastes The Bad: - Sloppy movement - Weapon balance is tuned for gamepad users with awful aim. Clicking heads with a rifle or pistol makes combat trivial. Shotguns and SMGs have low damage, ludicrous bloom, and poor ammo efficiency. - The game won't let you keep a cool weapon around for more than 1 or 2 encounters. Very often you'll find a weapon you like at the end of an encounter and never get to use it. - For a game mostly about stealth, the stealth mechanics and AI behavior are super basic. - Refinement of levels drops as the game goes on. Late levels are linear with very specific contrived solutions. By the end I was looking up a lot of solutions that turned out to be standing in a specific spot and looking in a specific direction. - Pacing isn't great. You spend several hours in this game slowly walking to the next objective while someone spouts exposition. Maybe if the action was more exciting these breaks would feel earned. The Ugly: - Quicktime Events abound. Very lazy game design. At least you can turn them off. - Product placement is very in your face. Feels bad to pay this much money for ads. - Path tracing broken on proton valve/GE/cachy as of 9/27/26.
