GG
Falls flat almost entirely due to the fact there is only 1 actual objectively correct girl (Qian) and it barely utilizes the promised QTEs and magic. There is also an issue where certain photos rewarded are incredibly low resolution and of course it does use AI in certain scene transitions.
Should you buy it? 🗣️🔥 HELL YEAH!

IT'S ABSOLUTE CINEMA.

It's absolutely worth the price, it's even a STEAL I'M SAYING.
I absolutely love Vivi (Lu Lanyu) and I hope they will cast her in more good FMVs, because her acting, facial expressions and overall "camera presence" are absolutely unparalleled. She was so amazing and compelling that reading subtitles became genuinely difficult and my eyes kept drifting to… somewhere else hehehe… Sodana (Chen Man) is also absolutely amazing, her acting range is amazing too. Qian (Ma Qianqian) was also amazing, and her role here is quite unique because she is a "ghost" and invisible to other characters except Chase (MC), and that allows a few very humorous situations which I like very much.
Production side respect
Actresses had to perform spell-casting hand gestures against nothing, with all VFX added in post. They must have felt ridiculous on set. The final result is convincing enough to make the magic system feel real, and maybe it's a little thing, but man, respect to them tbh.
✅ WHAT I LIKED VERY MUCH!

1. Comedy that's deliberately funny
The humor here is built, not stumbled into (at least not every time). It sets up rules who can see whom, what your powers do, how each girl reacts under pressure and then uses those rules against the characters for punchlines. Nobody explains the joke, nobody waits for a laugh track. Misunderstandings escalate into full meltdowns, petty grudges get weaponized in ways the characters can't do anything about, and the payoffs land because the writing actually tracks who these people are. Several scenes had me genuinely laughing out loud, and none of them needed translating. Especially that one "catfight" between Qian and Vivi. Absolute peak cinema.
2. Transparent, respectful UI
This game tells you exactly what it wants from you. Story nodes and choices spell out the precise stat thresholds required and where you currently stand. All tiers are visible, locked ones included, with their conditions listed. The branching node map labels which dialogue choice feeds which stat (Affection vs Desire). You unlock Desire on the second playthrough, so you can't reach the Perfect Ending on the first playthrough. That may be bad or discouraging for some people, but for a completionist like me it was pretty good. Amazing, even. No wiki tabs, no save-scumming blind. This should be genre standard and somehow isn't. Elemental powers (Fire, Water, Thunder, Falsehood, Heart Sight…) can be imbued into dialogue options to change outcomes, not just decorate them. Also an interesting mechanic! Locked options appear early with tooltips like "obtain this power in Episode 3" the game openly advertises its own replay value from run one. I love this!
3. Localisation choices
English-friendly character names (Chase, Vivi, Sodana, Cynthia, Nina, Lola) over romanised originals, while keeping the original audio. Massively improves character recall for non Chinese players. An underrated decision, and I wish every studio that wants a global audience would do that.
4. Writing with genuine emotional range
Underneath the comedy there's real weight. Characters carry histories that recontextualize earlier scenes once revealed, and the game is willing to offer endings built on loss rather than funneling everyone toward happiness. Some of the dialogue reaches for actual literary depth and gets there. It's far more thoughtful than the cover art suggests, but still nothing groundbreaking nice to see, though!
❌ WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE VERY MUCH
Quick-time events and minigames. Man, I just want to click my dialogue options on my Xbox controller and not need the mouse for the pixel-perfect, on-time QTE, god da#n. The translation isn't always the best, but I had no problem understanding most of the things, so it's only a minor problem. I got all achievements, all endings, everything. I got more than enough fun for my 6€, and I mean it when I say this game is just a steal, even if you play only two routes
SO WAIT NO MORE! GO BUY IT AND GO DEFEAT
DEMON KING!
