Step into the world of BLACKWOOD, a gritty third-person action thriller that blends smooth, responsive combat with cinematic storytelling.
By day, you are a seemingly ordinary store owner, managing your small DVD shop in an authentic recreation of New York, 2012. When night falls, you descend into the city’s underworld as a contract killer, caught between survival, morality, and a past that refuses to stay buried.
Anton's story takes place over the course of three Acts. Each Act is a complete part of the overall story, with new missions added in between the major acts.
Current Act Roadmap:
Act 1: September 16, 2026
Act 2: March 2027
Act 3: September 2027
When you purchase BLACKWOOD, you are purchasing the full game. All future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners. If you buy BLACKWOOD at launch, you will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately.
Act One Coming September 16, 2026.

Gunplay is fast, stylish, and unforgiving. Keep the Action relentless with fluid movement options like dives, rolls, and slides. Every encounter feels cinematic yet responsive, giving you the freedom to create your own moments of chaos.
BLACKWOOD’s signature mechanic: countless contextual takedowns. From one-on-one hand-to-hand executions to using the environment around you, every fight is an opportunity to end your enemies with precision and style. Grounded, weighty, and satisfying to master.
Your store is more than just a front. It's where you live, decorate, and roleplay a “normal” existence. Buy and sell DVDs, change outfits, interact with your apartment, and explore RPG elements that make your dual identity feel tangible. The contrast between day and night defines the world and the choices you make.
BLACKWOOD introduces a cast of flawed, human characters navigating a violent city full of secrets. Every ad, tattoo, and poster tells a story. Every mission pulls you deeper into a web of conspiracies and consequences.
Take control of your DVD shop and decide how hands-on you want to be. Restock shelves, organize inventory, set prices, and jump in at the counter to keep profits high. Let it run on autopilot, and you will get by. Manage it smartly, and you can watch it turn into a powerful source of income

I enjoyed it a bunch, I would love if they added more missions or modes because the selection as of right now is a bit small, but I like the ideas behind them as well. There is for sure room to improve, like more kill animations and maybe more area specific ones (I notice stairs don't have any and they come up a LOT) but if they continue to update this game and add more features such as weapons, missions, new modes and consistent patches I really think it will be amazing. Definitely some bugs still but I enjoy the vision, the combat is smooth and you can go though some insane sequences. I hope they go much more in depth with the weight statistics for weapons and how it effects speed.
This game is fun. I enjoy the day and night game play but I really can't stand the hand in hand combat. It's clunky and my inputs are very delayed.
I like the idea but it needs more work. Hoping the devs are on point with it.
want to give this game a good review, i like Blackwood allot. It feels extremely unfinished, I like the premise and the VA's are doing their best. Weapon customization is great, Anton and Amelies dynamic is nice. The most polished part of this game is managing the DVD store despite her floating 3 feet away from the cash register. The Devs need to play any other 3rd person game and replicate the movement. Combat is janky, acceleration values with AR's is insane while handguns are slow. Corner movement is horrible in this current build. Even just GOING in to cover is awful right now. Its easier to just 3-peek corners like im playing Gears of War. Its almost pointless to use parkour too. Driving is terrible and the civilian vehicles will Pinball you rather than moving out of the way, its the strangest thing I've ever seen, vehicles literally moving in sporadic and insane ways to PURPOSEFULLY hit your vehicle. I've had multiple instances of bugs killing me mid mission setting me back minutes. I've witnessed AI spawning in mid gameplay. The shooting needs to be refined, sometimes it feels entirely unresponsive and almost to weighty. Also auto saving needs to be fixed, If I have auto save on and I complete a mission, exit the game after said mission, it should not reset my in game day. There's also a metric crap ton of audio bugs, between gunshot sounds, Amelies audio cutting out mid sentence causing missed dialogue as well as conversation audio mixing being extremely poor. The closing shop cutscene tends to end before the characters are finishing their sentences. lastly this game should not have been released with 4 main missions that take anywhere from 5-20 minutes to complete, yes side gigs are repeatable. But 4 main missions from now until MARCH is crazy. I will be patient to see what they fix and add content-wise.***There needs to be more for sure, especially at 20$. Especially with the lack of weapons and clothes to wear and the obvious lack of more then 1 act, its apparent this was pushed too early,***
love it just need it more campaign mission for the story
