Been a cod gamer since call of duty 4 modern warfare. The original. And played a lot of cod games over the years. Some ive havent played. But when getting this one, the graphics was out of wack. And i had got this game at launch. So this review is basically one year later. And after seeing the reviews, so many mixed reviews on this game so i thought id give my 2 cents. The campaign, in my opinion, it was fun to play. Was a little disappointed cuz i saw the trailer of the game and the trailer looked way more trippy than the game actually is. So it felt like it was false advertising. It was still fun in my opinion. Zombies, i LOVE that there is a directed mode for the zombies. Had there been no directed mode, i wouldve not known what to do to get to the final boss. Endgame, im still kind of a noob with that one. Ive seen some gameplay videos on the endgame mode where you fight the iron giant and others but i never got to that point. Multiplayer, people complain about cheaters but honestly in my opinion, those reviewers who claim that there are cheaters in multiplayer, im convinced that they just suck. Idk cuz ive not come across many that would suggest that theyre cheating. Lastly i give the game a 5 out of 10 mainly because one one thing, the graphics. In some areas in the game, it looks phenomenal, and then in other areas, it looks like garbage. Grass would look pixelly a lil. Details on boulders would look half assed. However since its been nearly a year now, graphics have improved some. Im also kind of low key suspicious that maybe AI made the game judging by the fact that one year before the release of black ops 7, black ops 6 was released. Another reason why it gets a 5 out of 10, because if it is made by AI, its actually quite impressive.
Absolutely The worst call of duty, this is not even call of duty anymore, feels like FORTNITE. All guns sound plastic like they are nerf guns, ridicolous skins and weapon camos totally ruin the immersion and look totally out of place maps dont feel like maps anymore but more like some tech arenas, gun names are all changed like theyre ai generated, NICKI MINAJ SKIN? WTF .... the grind for attachments sucks, everything is just so oversaturated and made to be overstimulating to little kids. everything feels so AI, and graphics are way too much now, at this point old cods like COD4, MW2,BO, BO2 look and feel WAAAY BETTER Do not buy this game. it sucks and its the worst cod has ever gotten

THIS IS PURELY A ZOMBIES REVIEW If you are expecting to hear my thoughts on either the Campaign or Multiplayer they are not here as i have nothing to add about either experience. I was gonna wait until i finished the super EE before writing a review but i figured having finished the main quest on 3/6 maps and having spent more than enough time within survival and the other optional modes for this game. I feel i have enough grasp on its general design to properly convey my thoughts. Having said that if you are expecting this to be anything remotely like BO3 or whichever flavor of classic zombies you prefer you'll probably be fairly dissapointed, 7 does double down on a lot of the stuff i don't like about the dark aether formula but at the same time improves upon, negates, and outright changes enough for this to easily be the best modern zombies experience overall. I will touch on the story a little bit but i'll say that at the very least they tried to tell a new zombies story but failed at the finish line super hard, and wasted so much time on meaningless fluff. Dark Aether to me is a very potentially good story arc but the conclusions it reaches and the way it reaches those conclusions are equally baffling and stupid. Aether wasn't perfect and honestly a little bit overrated for how much the middle half sucks (who the ♥♥♥♥ thinks victis had good storytelling????) but there's enough charm & character writing to help convey what it needed to to good effect I think fondly on the classic maps and how full of life they feel for a mode that was probably very hacked together back in the day they managed to create something special. But in the case of dark aether i don't really see what the excuses possibly could be??? they had twice the budget and twice the man power not to mention a lengthy break to hammer down how they could write out a story like this. Sure there is succificent evidence showing that Treyarchs hand was forced in spots and despite the break many of their team was busy building zombies modes for other games that were somehow meant to tie into this narrative but even in those cases it seems like that stuff got entirely ignored minus the entirety of MWZ which is somehow the most vital middle piece of the storc arc lol. Rex literally ends with and then they do the things that need to happen for MWZ to be cannonical which is laughable and bizarre storytelling, I've harped on it a lot but i did generally like a lot of the new cast and thought they could go in interesting directions but its quite clear and i know this is a touchy subject but the recastings for samantha & peck due to the SAG aftra strike clearly hurt a lot of the story and they had to completley sideline these characters in favor of what little stuck around. Weaver literally says nothing for 90% of black ops 7 and we're supposed to find it cute when they reference him being practically mute. I like the new interpretations of classic ultimis/primaris zombies crew and i think they knocked it out of the park with them Richtofen is so slimy and unapologetically a piece of ♥♥♥♥, tank's very much like his classic ultimis counterpart but there's a strange romance subplot with Maya that straight up goes nowhere??? they shrug at the end and its like "yeah we could be a thing but i have to go do nothing elsewhere lol". The recasting of Takao is unfortunante and ultimately its one of the few times a classic character was recasted for good reason Kane's health had failed him and he could no longer do major VA work anymore, that being said i think his new VA is pretty good, I only know nelson lee from Ghost of Yotei but i feel he does a stellar job in both roles (even if the Snake gets like barely 5 minutes of screentime in Yotei). But i disgress the returner crew feels pretty fresh and i like what they've done with them even if ultimately i feel like aside from Grey & Carver (Maya is a maybe still mixed on her) they do overshadow the hell out of the terminus crew. Could just be nostalgia but the fact all the maps revolve around each member and they get more development and story writing compared to Terminius crew does feel like they didn't know where to take these characters hence the need for returning new versions of ultimis lol. Enough harping on the storytelling what about the actual mode? I feel its excellent and refreshing oddly enough. I'm not a huge BO6 Z detractor but there were parts of it where i felt like there needed to be some revision and touch ups to really make it shine through and thankfully BO7Z manages this in spades. All the stuff i found annoying over reliance on scorestreaks wonder weapons feeling like they barely matter lack of challenging modes etc. They managed to fix all of these and provide additional stuff in turn that really elevate the experience no longer am i wrangling for good weapons in the box with scorestreaks i can just roll for WW's like a normal person again, and my god is cursed mode easily one of the best additions this franchise has seen in a decade. Good lord how did i go this long without classic points or pistol start sure you could cope with "but you can just choose a pistol to spawn in with!" but that entirely ignores that CW had reworked those mechanics in the first place so that even if you do choose to spawn in with a pistol you're still reaping the benefits of getting to choose your own stuff (not to mention you still had the upgrades system lmao. Giving players the ability to just pick and choose what kind of zombies experience they want is a very build a bear approach to game design but the way it handles and contexualizes these choices in the first place is leagues ahead of just adding sliders to zombies imo. With the addition of also being able to customize your HUD more deeply turning off those wretched medals and grating minimap makes even standard play more appealing as no longer is it just a barrage of information that's totally unnecessary, you can finally see what you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doing. I should also give praise to the multitude of additional modes they've added CW only had like onslaught and outbreak i guess here you've got two different versions of survival (one that just lets you use cursed stuff which is nice), starting room only which used to just be custom maps only. Rogue Run which is an entire roguelike experience using the zombies mechanics and probably another i'm forgetting really adds a ton of variety to the standard zombies experience they didn't have to do this they could have just stuck to their standard/directed/cursed trio but adding back survival maps with a ton of other modes (grief is missing but BO6 grief was kinda bad....) highlights how much the zombies team does actually give a ♥♥♥♥ which is a far cry from how hostile other dev teams can feel. I do have to say though despite all my praise, still feel like the augments system is just a chore list. Look i feel the idea and implementation is generally speaking good, adding builds to zombies and letting the player dictate what kind of further benefits they want out of each part of their kit is honestly a good idea you can do a surprising amount with it even bringing back classic shield back protection using a jugg augment. But actually getting to that point is a chore and a half, the XP rates on gaining augments is frankly abysmal and i have no idea how this went unchanged from its BO6 incarnation the fact i have to waste so much time getting through upgrades i don't want on a SINGULAR perk or AAT to get the stuff i want is a huge time waster and just a general chore. The fact there isn't a multi rank up option even with the Super EE is a very harebrained decision too. Believe it or not i don't want to spend weeks ranking up each AAT when i might only use two or three depending on how i'm playing (dead wire is good enough for 99% of use cases minus side quest steps). Can i recommend BO7 zombies? Absolutely if you can get it on sale its a good time
