Terrible performance on powerful PC. Characters are so insanely dull and boring. Gameplay is just running between ugly rooms via ugly hallways and shooting the feet of the annoying lame enemies.
Extremely good remake, great visuals, good controls etc. So much love and care went into this remake and you can taste it in every moment you can properly play the game. If that was it my review would conlcude at a score of 9/10. But unfortunately the state of this PC version is simply unacceptable. Extreme frame drops on the regular and especially on the climactic moments, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuttering everywhere, fluctiating framerates no matter your rig. EA needs to get 200 lashes for leaving this masterpiece in such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unfinished state and not letting Motive finish it either, ♥♥♥♥ you. TL;DR Excellent game, terrible pc port 8/10.
Awesome game, I can't fault it and didn't want it to end. It's super fun if you don't mind gore and like the idea of blowing up creepy space aliens, solving small puzzles, and using different weapons. There's lots of flexibility to play how you want to and it does a good job of guiding you towards objectives, the story is pretty good too.
Excellent game, one of the most notable examples of great diegetic UI design. There were a couple of instances where I experienced some bugs, such as fire visual effects flickering out and some story logs not being obtained despite being "unmissable". Otherwise, performance was steady through and through, only minute stutters happened towards the final couple of chapters and weren't as bothersome as I would have expected based on other reviews.
I played the original trilogy and enjoyed them, so a remake of a great game was totally up my ally. Definitely worth the upgrade from the '09 original.
