charming and easy to learn. good for someone that has maybe not played a single player souls-like game. Buss
The game is great but the rending is always not the best.
This is the hardest game ever made. No I don't mean difficult wise I'm talking complete unadulterated badass, nothing can compare to how raw this game is. Some games might be of better quality, some games might be more difficult, some games might have higher graphical fidelity, but none of them are as rock solid, ionic metal, erection giving, TUFFNESS like this is. You are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spinosaurus wielding a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sword doing acrobatic power ranger moves. You can parry and do a flip into an energy slice when you fight giant boss dinosaurs who ALSO wield giant swords, with a soundtrack that is entirely metal. I haven't beaten the game yet, but that isn't necessary to know that this game is Raw. As. ♥♥♥♥. There is one major criticism I have and it's with the camera; whenever I am fighting large opponent it likes to jitter constantly, I don't play with lock on so I have no idea if that is the issue, but it makes it hard to focus sometimes. I also think there should be some kind of meter build up but maybe the point is to have limited super moves, with a higher importance on summons and roars so idk. But genuinely to anyone reading this, if you want to drop some hard knowledge on your friend's sorry ass; tell then about a game called Dinoblade. One more thing I have to add: I am glad this games basic and meter attacks doesn't do the stupid "magnetize towards the enemy" thing that a lot of free-form combat action games do, it honest to god makes games feel less interesting and more restrictive than people realize.
Yeah i followed this game since before it was meant to be a game, and im quite disappointed, the blocking and dodging just feels delayed and attacks that shouldn't hit you, hit you. and then for some reason so many attacks are red attack (cant block them) for no good reason. and in a fight you cant be patience and let the opponent attack first or else you just sit there forever waiting for them to attack but if you attack they just use their attack which is faster than you attack which means you lose 50% of you Hp from 1 attack... it's a cool concept but very poorly executed. The only reason this game is very positive on reviews is because it's a badass simulator. Dinos with swords the actual gameplay is nothing special.
Short but fun "Souls-like" game with fun mechanics, cool visuals and interesting concepts. This game is fairly short, but it was very entertaining. I beat the game in around 4 hours and got most of the achievements doing so. There is a second character option for the story mode and a Boss Rush mode I did not engage in that would probably add a few more hours for total completion. The mechanics are fairly solid and engaging. The parrying, special abilities and weapon special features have several options that synergize and work well together and felt really satisfying to use and fight with. The balance isnt perfect, but I still found parts of the game challenging and the ability to go back and grind xp, find items, etc to build up strength to make those challenges easier if desired, was appreciated. It was fairly easy to gain the amounts of XP needed to level enough to make significant differences in boss difficulty. Only taking short times to go back and prepare to return to whatever boss-fight I was getting stuck on. The bosses felt fair, It never felt like any of the boss mechanics were breaking any rules that I had to follow and no mechanics felt like they were there just to be punishing. The maps could be pretty, but were not especially interesting, mostly just serving to hide collectible upgrades, add some downtime between bosses and provide weaker mobs for XP. The story is barely present, it has some complexity but there is less then a few minutes of dialogue or cutscenes in the entire game so there's not enough time to get actually invested in anything. But its not such a bad thing, as dinosaurs with swords doesn't really need too much complexity to make it interesting.
