fun. animal well+void stranger
I wish I was smart enough to fully understand and explore the game, luckily its still fun anyway
good game. it's a nice place to hangout :D
I had a good time with it. There's definitely more to see, but I'm not sure I want to put in the time to unravel the hidden stuff.
I think this game is really intriguing, but exploration winds up feeling like a chore. There's no "point" to just moving around (e.g., no money to collect), which just means you're spending time to move. Time doing the same tricky, slow, movements you've done before, often having to sit around and wait for things to line up. Which is kind of a death-knell for a game that should be encouraging exploration. To be concrete: let's say you make your way to a new area after some puzzling, difficult platforming, and stumbling on hidden passages. Ok cool, a sense of reward. But after a while, maybe you get stuck in that area. So, you decide "ehh, enough of this, I want to explore somewhere else". Except leaving means knowing you'll have to do all the complicated things it took to get here again... I wind up just saying "screw it, i don't want to lose progress, but I'm also stuck, so I guess i'll just quit." So I do. There seem to be a tiny number of "shortcuts" you can open, but half of the time you wind up blocking yourself instead of opening the shortcut. So that "i'll just go somewhere else for a change of pace" escape-valve present in most metroidvanias isn't present here.
I wound up spoilering that there is a kind of fast travel, but it wouldn't have been "explained" in-game until long after where I am, and, I'm not even sure I would ever have figured it out based on the clues. Given that there are apparently no upgrades, I didn't expect there to be any new techniques. Upon trying it, it feels just as much of a slog as anything else. I should just be able to swap between flowers, and that should be unlocked early. Anything else in a game where movement doesn't feel fun, well, isn't fun.
