A classic flash game rereleased for Steam for a comedically cheap price? Satisfactory. Fireboy & Watergirl 1: The Forest Temple, if it wasn't obviously by the name, is the first entry of the Fireboy & Watergirl puzzle platformer flash game series by Oslo Albet. The game follows the titular Fireboy and Watergirl as they explore the also titular Forest Temple for some cool diamonds, solving puzzles along the way. It's a game I've personally played on Flash Sites like Coolmathgames back in the day, so being able to spend almost pennies to have copy of it seems like a pretty good deal. Gameplay of Fireboy & Watergirl plays around the mechanic of having two playable characters at the same time, that being obviously Fireboy & Watergirl. With the pair being controlled by the WASD and Arrow keys for movement and jumping with the level's goal being to get to the pair of exits for each character. The major obstacles are pits of lava and water that the characters of the opposite element cannot touch for very obvious reason along with green sludge that just hates everyone. While puzzles elements are mixed in with the form of lifts, switches, buttons, moveable objects like boxes, and more. Which all in all make a pretty nice variety of 32 levels to complete. There's even bonus objectives of collecting all the colored gems to the corresponding character as well as time trial to beat. Although with those I'd recommend getting a friend to control one of the other elemental as trying to control both characters at the same time is a pretty tricky task. As there were a few times where jumping just straight up not registered as a input and this is one of those puzzle games where dying completely resets the level so you'll have to redo any of the puzzle up to that point. Stylewise, the game is a flash game from 2009 and looks the part. But there is some very nice art direction with all the obstacles clearly and visually communicating what they do and who can interact with it. The character design for Fireboy and Watergirl are also pretty solid with their simple but very effective designs. Overall, Fireboy & Watergirl 1: The Forest Temple for both it's notability for being the first entry in a iconic flash game series, and also the price-to-content ratio being pretty fair. Is absolutely worth the 1$ or less you can snag it. While it would have been nice to have some more QoL improvements than what is basically just a straight port of the flash game onto Steam, it IS nice that is present in a way that's still easily playable. Though I'd personally would have cut the time trials being mandatory for a perfect level score since it's just basically impossible to do solo but that's just for 1 single achievement, so it's not THAT huge of a deal and could make for some fun co-op moments!
Not much to it other than the base flash game, which is a little unfortunate but at least its on steam. is still very fun
harder puzzles than portal 2 and this was on coolmathgames somehow...
