Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey.
As well as the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, which has given rise to supernatural creatures that no modern weapon can defeat. Your drone and sword from a different age are your faithful allies as you cut a path through lands infested with terrifying chimeras and try to unravel the mystery of their appearance.
No map, no compass, no quest markers: following your instincts is part of the adventure. Enjoy a unique experience that uses innovative writing and level design to let you make your own decisions and follow your instincts as you explore. Your discoveries are yours alone.
Swords, spears and axes: a wide range of weapons forged specially for fighting these supernatural creatures is available. You will need to learn how to fight these monsters and use your drone wisely to stay alive.
''The central theme of Hell is Us is that human violence is a perpetual cycle fueled by human emotions and passions.'' – Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director

Do not play this on PS5!! play it on PC! I bought it on PS5 at first and ended up deleting it because performance mode looked ugly and the other mode was a laggy mess. Months later, I bought it on PC out of curiosity, and it is easily my best purchase in ages. Playing on a high-end setup (RTX 4090), the game is drop-dead gorgeous, buttery smooth, and the combat is out of this world. Absolute thank you to the devs for making such a brilliant game. Please stop limiting yourselves with last-gen/console hardware constraints because when this game runs right, it’s a 10/10!

I want to say first, beautiful messaging from Jaffer when you go through dialogue, especially his optional dialogue toward the Sabinians and Palomists, and even if he says he lacks the wisdom, he got a good bit of wisdom and a lot of foresight. This game has stunning visual, nice gameplay, deep lore and well written story, interesting design of characters and creatures. I feel like reading each piece of information hidden in it and doing everything it has to offer as much as when I played my first assassinès creed. Highly recommend if you like this type of game.
The choice of not having a map nor having objective markers made me pay attention to the lore, go in blind with this game and you'll enjoy it.
This game really surprised me. The story is original, engaging, and replete with complex mysteries. There is no hand-holding in this game at all. Its completely open-world and the first 10 hours of play can be confusing as you have multiple mysteries running concurrently. I have to admit I played on lenient mode and had to look at game guides a few times to understand how to progress, but by the middle of act 1, things came together. I really am enjoying it even as i just started act 2. I truly hope Rogue Factor continues to make games of this caliber. The price is totally worth it if you like this genre. My only suggestion to the developers would be to include a in-depth combat tutorial and indicators on the map showing discovered puzzle locations. I spend a ton of time trying to locate previously found puzzle locations. Also, there are so many glyphs and weapon types that Im overwhelmed and cant determine what, if any, most of them do. Big thank you to all the devs and testers for a truly engaging unique game!

10 hours in- absolutely LOVE this game so far. Sound/music/story/environments are all outstanding. Combat is pretty decent, exploration is highly rewarded. It's like Dark Souls happening in a modern yet somehow fantasy/sci-fi environment. It's certainly one-of-a-kind, and I've heard the term "walking simulator" used for this game- ONLY if you don't pay attention and end up getting way lost perhaps. As long as you pay attention you won't be spending huge amounts of time just mindlessly wandering- although the environments are gorgeous and worth exploring. Honestly- going into this game knowing essentially nothing has been great. It's a wild story so far, quite dark, and it's been a LONG time since i was so fascinated by a story, book, game, or otherwise. There is some wacky nonsense going on with this plot and I can't wait to figure out what on earth is happening. Does cool stuff with sound/music- one of those "Use headphones if you have them" games. Edit- weird note: my "Time played" dropped from 10 hours to 5.4. Just mentioned because I did say I have played 10 hours and am past the earlier parts of the game.
