It is a pretty good game. BIG beautiful world with lots of character and immersion. Extremely well done story and quests. TONS of stuff to do and lots of places to explore. For me however, there are just too many, annoyances, for it to be a great game. Definitely not as good as the first by a fair margin. For starters, the combat system is well, clunky. -Melee combat is basically only useful in the fighting pits and it's damage output low even when fully buffed out. It's just too slow and there are too many staggers for it to be useful against machines, and against rebel camps it's just easier to just sneak around in the grass and head-shot them all. -Ranged combat is quite powerful but they turned the dial up on the needlessly thrashing and twitching around on all of the machines added in this installment. Making lining up shots on parts, irritating. You can loose an arrow and from the time it leaves your bow to the time it hits the machine it will make some extremely rapid micro movement and the shot will whiff. This happens, A LOT. Unsure if it was by design but all the “legacy” machines from the first game that are in this one do not suffer this problem. -The end game gear upgrade grind is just AWFUL. You're relegated to bouncing around to a handful of the more powerful machines, over, and over again. If you need to kill an APEX variant of said machine getting one to spawn can be tedious. Often times the parts you work your butt off to tear off of the machine will get completely ejected from the area you were fighting either by the machines abilities or it just thrashing around as they do. Good luck finding it, you probably won't -The amount of staggers and stuns and slows is just.. staggering. Seriously! I've spent so much time just hugging the floor. Be it some insta-shot ability with a 0.5 second travel time or one of larger machines doing 100m gap-closing ability that if you dodge too early they just rubber-band onto you, and if you time it perfectly you get knocked down by the instant follow up trashing around they do anyways before you can get away from them. -TOO MANY BLOCKED PATHS in the first ¾ of the game. If you're like me and love really clearing out a zone before moving on it is very disappointing that every new thing you discover you can't access. Going back well after the fact to collect these items was boring and honestly not worth the time because in the end as I would already have a lot of the resources you get from them. At any rate, I'm still having enough fun to outweigh said annoyances, but not by much at times. Looking forward to the third installment coming out, hopefully in my lifetime.
