You don't walk into the apocalypse. You drive through it.
America, 2080s. AI corporations created sentient machines that made decisions no human authorized. Now they roam the wastelands, not to kill, but to convert. Humans are abducted and used to birth a new half-human, half-machine race created to inherit what's left of the world.
They took your wife. They have your daughter. You're one of the few still human. Still fighting. Still behind the wheel. And they haven’t taken you yet.
Slow time and dismember vital components. Break doors to target the driver, puncture fuel tanks to trigger explosions, or rip wheels apart to stop a vehicle dead in its tracks. Every enemy has a weak point. Find it.
Fight through the campaign solo, squad up in open-world co-op, survive long enough to extract with your team, or go head-to-head in ranked and unranked 1v1 deathmatches.
Every part has a cost in weight and aerodynamics. Build for speed, build for firepower, but build smart. Pick up powerful augments mid-run to enhance your weapons and vehicle on the fly.
Track your dash instruments in first-person. Primary weapon overheated? Secondary out of ammo? Draw your sidearm and finish the job.
Massive threats that push your build to its limit. Learn their weak points or die trying.
Combine active and passive abilities with your loadout to unlock new playstyles. Use sonar to track enemies through walls, drop caltrops to disable vehicles, or hit the jetpack and take the high ground.

As other said already it feels very janky. Right away from the beginning in the menu navigating through the menu items isn't even possible. The up down movement just doesn't happen. Stock os on steam deck. Brand new game. Shouldn't happen. And the game itself feels as janky. Just weird physics when driving and nothing feels right. I do think this game has a lot of potential. The mad Max themed car is quite cool and if the game would deliver what it is attempting to deliver it would be cool. I think steam has a policy to disclose if ai assets were used. Judging by the game description text a llm was most definitely used, that's not an accusation just my opinion based on my experience and by using ai detection software. It would be good to disclose where ai was used and hopefully they will follow up on that. I've requested refund for the game immediately. I think it's beta at most and doesn't deliver, even to the sale price of 14 euro or what it was here in Europe. I might return to buy it if it improves and even to the full price or higher because I think a game of this concept is really cool 😎
Content wise, its decent and theres definitely some serious potential here. Gameplay wise, it just doesn't feel impactful in terms of destruction, collisions. audio, weapons etc. Audio dont sound natural and shooting things dont feel as impactful as they should. I hope down the line these issues do get addressed. So far dev has been really good with taking feedback so I have high hopes for this games future.

This is the kind of game that gets better the longer you stay in it. I played an early build before and came back to the full release, and the improvement is easy to see. The clean UI is still easy to read, and the graphics now look noticeably better. The vehicles are more varied and look great. The camera has also improved a lot. It is responsive and keeps up with the car, which pulls you into the action. Driving feels good overall. Drifting works well in the main version, and I can control the car when I boost, which feels realistic now. The enemy AI is much improved too. Enemies make more varied decisions and attack from range, so fights are hard until your loadout catches up. Sound is a strong point. The sound effects hit well and the voice acting is good. A few things still need work. The physics are inconsistent when a car launches. In the air the car sometimes looks broken, and other times it looks right. The music is my biggest complaint. Calm, quiet tracks don't fit a world where cars are wrecking each other, and I enjoyed the game more without it. Something heavier and more aggressive would suit the action much better. The cutscene animations also feel stiff and need more polish. The campaign missions I played in my first hour were simple: go to a place, clear it out, go fetch something. I can't say yet whether it stays that way or gets more varied later. The objective text on screen is also too small. I sometimes zone out and forget what I'm supposed to be doing, so a larger objective display would help. Mad Metal has a strong base and the developer is clearly improving it. Better physics, music and cutscenes would make it much stronger.

Got it on day one cause I had a good feeling about it and I was right, the dev is constantly improving both single and multiplayer modes, listening to feedback and implementing major improvements and advancements in both game quality and quantity. Great post apocalyptic vibe and a very cool campaign, with co-op PVE as well as PVP multiplayer makes this a must for all Mad Maxers out there

Stuttering mess, even on the lowest graphics settings. Feels like its running at 12 fps. Neat concept, poor execution.
