Do you know the game in which you are a cat captain and do fishing until you are really, really rich? "Miseria" is exactly that: an autobattler that focuses on unlocking all abilities and reaching the highest level with the best upgraded equipment. Unfortunately, its very short and surprisingly low on content, making me giving thumbs up, but with some Cons I cannot overlook: + great aesthetics of early Diablo 1, similar to the more action oriented "Halls of Torment" - speaking of the action, you have extremely few things to do on screen, with even the gold picking becoming automated after short time + unlockables are many: abilities, equipment, level stats, ... - but unfortunately some skills are making you invincible - or nearly, because they prove far more useless than you thought when meeting the final boss + game's playtime increases because you have to restart your game to earn precious crystals to unlock permanent upgrades and more characters - that's not unusual: Diablo 1 was so difficult back then that you had to restart with the character from the beginning, keeping the level, but becoming even stronger - but doing all the levels again cannot be named other than boring, because every of the 90 levels of "Miseria" are exactl the same room, with only the enemies - and their stats - changing. And that's what makes "Miseria" a bit bitter, although you will like it when you are into Diablo 1. But with looking at the same screen over and over again, you let the game play for itself after some while - which certainly isn't much, because I reached the final level within two hours or so. There could have been a bit more indeed.
If I could leave a neutral review, I would. But as it stands, "not recommended." Pros: - visuals - satisfying upgrade feel Cons: - very short - broken progression: you unlock perks way too fast, and after that, you can just minimize the game and go AFK. Some perks are just broken get it and it's auto win - super easy: you just sit and click the mouse, zero thinking required - even the challenge can be beaten on the first try
I had this game wishlisted and bought it on release. I took my time getting around to playing it, which I regret because man did I enjoy my time with this game. I played the entire thing through in one sitting, 4 complete runs and 1 run on challenge mode to secure the 100%. I really enjoyed challenge mode. The deformed is such a cool little dude, we need some point shop items with him! I haven’t played an idle game since I was a kid, this was a nice way to get back into the genre. I’m not sure why there is so much negativity in the reviews. For what it is the game is great. - It looks good - runs well (I played on my PC for like 30 minutes and my steamdeck for the remainder of time) - has a decent enough story that keeps you engaged - nice theme - less than $10 - interesting characters - not too short not too long - offers replayability through challenge mode If you like idle games I recommend this, if you’re looking for something new; I recommend this. Thanks to the Dev I enjoyed adding this one to my completion list.
Great little game!
