Nion Forge is an action roguelite where you fight swarms of enemies above the streets of a cyberpunk city – in a ship you built yourself. Fast, arcade-style and hands-on: you're actually flying, not just walking in circles. A run to the fourth boss takes around 20 to 30 minutes. How much time you spend in the hangar after that is up to you.
Put it together in the hangar from 50+ modules and enter the games: 9 districts, 9 bosses, and beyond them, the way out. Run went sideways? Come back with scrap and build it better: 100+ upgrades, 30+ cores, countless builds.
Upgrades are class-based: you steer where your run is heading instead of hoping for the right upgrades. More modules means more options in the pool – not more junk in your picks.
Enemies drop scrap. Scrap becomes modules in the shop. Modules become your next attempt in the hangar. And if top-down feels too relaxed for you: switch the camera and fly the chaos in third-person.

Lovely game. I like it. Finally out after playing it at gamers heaven. Here is a random number of reasons why i like the game in a the random order they came to my mind. The best colour pallet you could have (black and nion). Nice bosses (those damn polygons!) A fun progression system. Controls so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smoothly. So it feels super reactive but also you cannot dodge everything by reaction so you have to also think a bit. Also the ship building is crazy funny. You can build a ship that is sooo perfectly designed that it can only turn into one direction. Or just stay with an insanely small and nimble ship, because yes a heavier ship will move and accelerate more slowly (which makes it an interesting trade off and you can but also have to choose what fits your style best). But you could also just fit a million guns to your ship. Because nothing can destroy you if everything is dead. Also the soundtrack is fun. And it runs on linux (with proton). Always a big plus for that. Can recommend. Do recommend.
