"Hmph, it's not like I decided to stay in the human world specifically for you!"
An aristocratic vampire who accidentally breaks into the protagonist Lin Xiaocou's home. She appears elegant and proud, but is actually a homebody who despises troublesome things.
With a proud and sharp-tongued personality, she often bluntly points out Lin Xiaocou's predicaments, teases him from time to time, and makes various "not difficult, but very troublesome" requests. In reality, she's cold on the outside but warm on the inside and isn't good at expressing her true feelings, using a haughty attitude to hide her inner turmoil. She enjoys the feeling of being with Lin Xiaocou and is most relaxed and at ease when they are together.
As a vampire who has lived for over three hundred years, she grew tired of the unchanging life in her old castle. After running away from home, she stumbled upon Lin Xiaocou's house, seeing it as a "decent temporary base." Although she always acts like a bystander, through their daily interactions, she gradually becomes curious and fond of the fleeting nature of human life.

"...I'm not an idiot. I just don't want to face a reality that is too cruel."
A witch who accidentally breaks into Lin Xiaocou's home. A magical accident caused her to stop aging.
She has a cheerful and lively personality, yet she is clumsy and prone to causing trouble. Beneath her innocent and naive exterior lies a sensitivity that far exceeds her appearance and a hint of imperceptible sorrow. She is accustomed to solving problems with dazzling magic and hiding her inner anxiety with a smile.
Full of curiosity about the world, she firmly believes that "fun" is the ultimate creed in life. She can become vulnerable when her emotions are unstable but will occasionally show a more passionate side. She feels at ease by Lin Xiaocou's side and gradually learns to express her true self.
After studying under a great witch for many years, she began to travel alone once she could stand on her own. She stumbled into Lin Xiaocou's house during a teleportation accident and, after tasting the desserts in his refrigerator, decided to move in without a second thought. Although she always causes minor mishaps, she consistently tries her best to blend into human life.

Our Brief Eternity is a character-driven visual novel developed and published by 土豆花制作组 that combines supernatural fantasy with an intimate slice-of-life narrative. At its core, the game tells the story of an ordinary salaryman whose predictable routine is interrupted when he finds himself sharing his life with two extraordinary companions: an ancient vampire and a young witch. While the premise initially leans into familiar anime and visual novel territory, the game quickly establishes its own identity through its emphasis on emotional connections and the fleeting nature of happiness. The narrative thrives on its quieter moments. Rather than pushing players through a fast-paced sequence of dramatic revelations, the story allows relationships to develop naturally through daily interactions, conversations, and shared experiences. The vampire's composed demeanor and hidden loneliness contrast effectively with the witch's energetic and impulsive personality, creating a dynamic that keeps the dialogue engaging throughout the adventure. As players spend more time with the cast, the title gradually explores themes of mortality, immortality, and the value of limited time, giving additional weight to what begins as a seemingly lighthearted fantasy romance. Visually, the game delivers an appealing presentation that suits its tone. The hand-drawn character artwork is expressive, while the collection of CG illustrations highlights many of the story's key moments. The inclusion of SD artwork adds a touch of charm during lighter scenes, helping maintain a balance between comedy and melancholy. Full Chinese voice acting further strengthens the cast, bringing personality and emotion to pivotal conversations. Combined with a relaxing soundtrack, the presentation succeeds in creating an atmosphere that feels warm and inviting despite the underlying themes of loss and impermanence. From a gameplay perspective, Our Brief Eternity remains faithful to traditional visual novel design. The experience is centered almost entirely around reading and making occasional choices, with four distinct endings available depending on the player's decisions. This branching structure encourages multiple playthroughs and reinforces the game's central question: how should one approach relationships when time is experienced differently by everyone involved? The approximately 130,000-word script ensures there is enough material to support these routes, though players seeking more interactive mechanics may find the experience relatively straightforward. One of the game's biggest strengths is its consistency. It understands the type of story it wants to tell and rarely strays from that vision. However, its appeal is somewhat limited by its language availability, as the game currently supports Simplified Chinese, making it inaccessible to a broader international audience. Likewise, players expecting a heavily action-oriented or gameplay-driven experience should temper their expectations, as the title is firmly rooted in storytelling. Its mature elements are modest and primarily serve to reinforce the romantic aspects of the narrative rather than define them. Ultimately, Our Brief Eternity succeeds as a heartfelt exploration of companionship and the bittersweet reality that even the most meaningful moments cannot last forever. It may not revolutionize the visual novel genre, but its memorable cast, thoughtful themes, and polished presentation make it an easy recommendation for fans of fantasy romance and slice-of-life storytelling. The game leaves players with a lingering sense of nostalgia by the time the credits roll, reminding them that the brevity of life is often what makes it so precious. Rating: 8/10
