You’re not just running a video rental store.
You’re running out of time.
RUN THE WORLD'S LAST VIDEO RENTAL STORE
You’ve inherited the last video rental store in town. You're broke, drowning in late returns, and streaming giant RentNet just opened across the street.
Run your store by day.
Do whatever it takes to survive by night.
The longer you stay in business, the more chaotic things become.
Order movies, snacks, toys, and rare collectibles. Stock shelves, manage customers, and expand your store from a dying shop into a thriving business.
Hire employees, automate operations, and optimize every inch of your store.
Every decision determines whether you survive another week.
Oh and did we mention we have PLENTY of store customization options?
The store alone isn’t enough.
Run underground fight clubs. Gamble on scratcher tickets. Install a claw machine. Take on shady side hustles across the city.
Some will make you rich.
Some will ruin you.
Produce and release your own original films to compete with RentNet.
Manage production, release films, and turn your store into something far bigger than a rental shop.
Explore a low-poly open city by foot or scooter. Discover secrets, track NPC schedules, and unlock increasingly dangerous and lucrative opportunities.
Run the store alone or with friends in co-op multiplayer. PLEASE NOTE: Co-op is temporarily disabled in the main build due to performance instability. Saves you create now will be co-op compatible when it returns.
To play co-op today, switch to the Legacy branch (right-click the game in your Library → Properties → Betas → "Legacy"), which runs the June build and your older saves.
Restoring co-op is our top priority. Timeline to follow here and in our Discord once 1.0 hotfixes settle.
Divide responsibilities, expand faster, and take bigger risks together.

As a software engineer, I have sympathy for game developers, and can understand some of the challenges that come from people paying you for your software. That being said, I sadly cant recommend this game. I want to love it, and the primary gameplay is fun, but I dont think I have played a buggier game in my life. Upon release, which was something like $12 by the way, you joined a lobby with friends and were greated by a great map, fun gameplay, but the game just doesnt play... dropping ads on the ground absolutely cooks FPS. You would think there would be a limit on some things, but nope, I tested it out and you can drop 999+ ad papers on the ground, and no matter where they are in the map, will destroy the lobby for everyone. animations didnt complete, items invisible, memory leaks that cause you to have to reload lobbies every hour... it was a mess. day 1, my impressions were - "this game was not tested at all before it was released" - "a 30 minute test of this game would have told the devs that this should not have been released" - "was this entire game vibe coded? because this feels like its been patched together to barely work" so i stopped playing the game, because the bugginess outweighed the fun from playing the game. The devs knew the game was buggy, and they promised to fix it... so i waited. queue to sometime this past summer and i saw that there was an update to the game. while the patch notes talked about performance improvements, it also mentioned multiplayer, and half the fun features of the game being disabled because the way they are fixing the game is requiring them to rewrite it or something like that... (further deepening my suspicion that this was a vibe-coded game). and months later.... more improvements... to performance, but still with half the features disabled. At its current state, I would say the game is even worse than it was at launch, because it is fundamentally less of a game... taking away multiplayer killed this game, even more than the terrible launch. At its best, this game provided me with a few hours of gameplay that were ok at best... I did everything there was to do in the game at the time it was launched, and since then, basically no new content has been added, only removed... This game was a cash grab and should have never been released. Im holding on hope that they actually rebuild the game and make it what it was supposed to be, but its been 3 months, and theyve only made it worse.

Just get Retro Rewind instead. You'll have a much better time playing that rather than suffering through a buggy, near-unplayable mess that Rewind 99 has become.

Let me preface this by saying I WANT to be able to recommend this game. I really do. I love the aesthetic, I think the world map is interesting, and I really like business and open world games. As of right now, it is so buggy, and a lot of features were hacked before a 1.0 release. This should have just stayed in Early Access and everyone would have been cool with it.
