Security 51 is an atmospheric security guard simulator inspired by Papers, Please, and SCP paranoia. You're on duty in the underground bunker of Area 51, where the most dangerous part begins at the elevator: the shaft descends for miles down to unknown levels. Whether it's laboratories, anomalies, inhumane experiments, or something alien—you're not supposed to know. Your task is simple: let in those who have access and stop those who don't... even if everything looks "right" on the surface.
Everyone who passes through your checkpoint carries papers and passes. Your job is to check names, positions, clearance levels, and time, ensuring the number of people entering and leaving matches, and pay attention to any oddities. As time passes you'll catch yourself thinking that something's wrong more and more, and the only thing to rely on will be the protocols. But even they can be wrong.
With experience, you'll gain increasingly more accurate methods of identity verification, such as blood testing. Did that janitor simply open the wrong door, or are they a spy for an enemy government? Or are they not even human? When in doubt, quarantine the suspect. Sometimes you'll make mistakes and lock up an ordinary employee, and sometimes you'll find a titanium cell ripped open from the inside. Some decisions will have immediate consequences, others only after several shifts.
The consequences of every mistake go far beyond issues in the workplace. Let the wrong person out, and the infection will ravage the city. Isolate suspicious employees, investigate anomalies, and launch new operations to contain the threat before it's too late.
Remember, it's not just about who you let in, but who or what you let out into the world.

I liked it. I do agree with some of the negative reviews that it gets monotonous though, especially since you gotta repeat days to get all the "endings". And I put that in quotation marks because... I feel like they're more... Outcomes that you're actually supposed to get, rather than endings? When we get the occasional interesting NPC,
like with the cult people or the weird scientist/doctor or my beloved, Tris,
it makes me think that the route'd branch out or we'll discover secrets that we can do something with. But... Not really? It all ultimately leads to the same ending, or you die by letting the creatures win. Maybe I want to be a
fungus king. Maybe I want to defy the Machina Factorum. Maybe I wanna run off with my mysterious friend(?), Tris
. Anyway... Do I recommend this game? Yeah. Because again, I did have fun. But my general advice would be to not expect much uh... Freedom.

the tutorial was so ♥♥♥♥ that it frustrated me immensely. it asked me to place the card inside the punch and i did assuming that the highlighted area guided me into how to place it. tldr it did not. i even did try to change what side to punch but that failed as i placed it to far into the punch. i even had to look at the steam discussions to see if anything was wrong with the game or something but that didn't help. had there been a image showing how to place the card or just a tip saying to not place it to far into the punch that would have immensely helped but alas. in the end it took me 10 min just to find the right position for the card but at that point i had enough and have now requested a refund.

Usually love Alawar games and I loved Papers, Please, but this is a miss. It never really comes together, as in Papers, Please, e.g. you get a new tool, use it for one, maybe two days, and that's largely it. The instructions tell you exactly what to look for and then you only have one tool to do that. It never really gets difficult or interesting. Sad to say, that the game needs a complete overhaul from the core mechanics. This is only further illustrated by the fact, that investing your money makes barely any difference, and your two "life" stats (sanity and hunger) are easily filled back up with the most basic items, because the advanced healing items are LESS cost effective. E.g. why would I buy an item that heals 20 sanity for 200 bucks if I can buy the 6 sanity item for 50. Yes, you read that right, yes you can buy unlimited instances of these items and yes, these problems were voiced in beta/playtest. I don't get the problems of this game. There was a playtest with ton of feedback and yet, it still seems like they barely made any changes to things that are clearly problems. That's why the game falls totally short compared to any of their other games, the core gameplay loop is just boring and unsatisfying, many choices make zero sense and the only times I failed it turned out to be an actual bug with the game. Seeing that they did very little changes after the playtest to adress the most grievous problems, I have no hope they will anytime soon and have to honestly say: I can't recommend this. Go buy literally any other Alawar game for a good time or if you like the premise of this game but never played "Papers, please!", get that one. But this one, stay away, there is suprisingly little here, except for the gorgeous pixel art and the creativity of the world/universe itself. The game has its moments, but it's overall unimpressive at baseline.
