I'd like to echo the praise of this game. The vibes are immaculate. Very interested in where it goes after 2.5 hours. Very fun 2D survival horror gameplay. Big recommend if you like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Alan Wake, or Twin Peaks. I'll update my review upon finishing

Silver pines!! Silent hill and Twin Peaks had a love child. I am half way through and i must say it is pretty cool.
Playing on "Survival Horror" difficulty and the game feels exceptionally well-tuned for a first playthrough. You're encouraged to push yourself and not save often due to the RE-style save system and the game gives you some pretty good hints when a boss battle is coming up. That said I'm nearing what feels like the end (based on total mementos collected) and I've saved >40 times with no issues so it's really lenient. If you're a veteran of this genre you'll be very much at home with this one. You're heavily encouraged to backtrack to find little treats that have been carefully laid around the map and it works really well with organic scares by lulling you into a false sense of security and dropping something on you when you least expect it in an area you've become familiar with. Also the art style, environmental design, voice acting, music - all very well suited for the game. Some of the skits for the fake TV shows caught me off guard with fun cameos from some youtubers (ex. Vinny Vinesauce) and it adds a lot to the sincerity of the game. Easily stands toe to toe with its peers in the survival horror genre and does some incredible stuff with the visuals. Also: I love how the town is made up of horizontal slices on the map and you can easily navigate what feels like a real town but in a sidescroller. The map itself is stellar and the ability to take reminder photos that get placed on the map where you took them feels really good in place of the game automatically doing it for you since you're more likely to remember something you took yourself.
Hadn't saved for over an hour. Game bugged out and my character got stuck at the top of a staircase. Two shadowy dudes jumped me. Got my sh*t rocked and lost all my progress. Going back in to wreak havoc. Awesome game. Manages to capture a unique atmosphere for the small titular town while paying homage to previous titles it took inspiration from. Proudly wears its influences on its sleeve. The tone of the game feels like that weird headspace right before you fall asleep or just as you're about to wake up. At first nothing really makes sense, but eventually things start to come into focus. Highly recommend.
