With Sker Island overrun by the hordes of Quiet Ones, you must face the horrors head-on. Whether solo or in a party of up to 4 players, tear through the relentless waves across six unique maps to bring Elisabeth's reign of terror to a close.
The Quiet Ones swarm over Sker Island, controlled by Elisabeth's order. Failed experiments that turned ravenous, these monsters mercilessly hunt you down to make sure one thing is true - that you die. With elites and bosses that possess unique powers, you will be forced to adapt your play-style and arsenal to keep yourself from death's door.
As you shoot your way through the hordes, different Celtic Gods will bestow unique kinds of Miracles upon you. From each Miracle drop, choose from three random upgrades that empower your attacks and abilities - altering or buffing your shots, melee attacks, grenades, and healing. Furthermore you may be granted an Ultimate, a powerful chargeable ability to unleash when the Quiet Ones creep in too close. Show enough devotion to the right Gods and you may find yourself with devastating combos to unleash upon the swarm.
In the face of the unrelenting mass of Quiet Ones, arm yourself appropriately. Buy stock munitions and ammo from The Laughing Policeman's booths across each map, or find Lucky - your ever faithful companion - to gamble for a higher tier armament. And when the going gets especially tough, SUPER CHARGE your weapons into powerful steampunk creations to cut down the hordes with greater ease.
Even amidst the chaos wrought on Sker Island, there's room to customise. Collect interchangeable masks to strike fear on Sker's inhabitants through the free Sker Pass, achievements, easter eggs, or cosmetic DLCs. Additionally, taunt your enemies (or your teammates) with unique voicelines and switch out dynamic menu scenes from environments across the isle. Inspired by all forms of horror - folk, gothic, zombie, sci-fi, to the supernatural and more - find what screams "you".

Don't advertise solo as a valid option then balance the bosses around co-op. First boss is a damage sponge that eternally walks toward you at hits in big AOEs, so you need to keep eyes on him and backstrafe the entire fight, which is why the devs made it so mines magically spawn in and also the entire floor drops out for a fire trap, all while spawning constant enemies that you also need to kill off while dealing damage to the massive boss health bar.
Tried it for the Advanced Warfare-type zombies content of high fantasy retroism. This game simply does not have the bones for something enjoyable. At least with the Zombies franchise, there's a reasonable shooter game behind it -- with this, it's like someone wanted to make Black Ops: Zombies without understanding that you need more of a hook than just that. I'm not joking when I say this is TEMU Black Ops: Zombies. A game you might enjoy if you've never played Zombies before. I appreciate the work they put into making a competitor, of course, but this just... sucks. NOTE: All my friends that picked this up seemed to have done so on sale and even then are not interested in playing it. It really just isn't good enough for that.

One of those games that's quite hard to figure out exactly why it just feels mid. For me I see elements of CoD Zombies, Killing Floor, and Vermintide. Sker Ritual is very much it's own thing, but what it takes from other games doesn't fully capture what made them special, it just shares some similar mechanics. Surviving increasingly difficult waves WHILE performing lame fetch quests and objectives isn't an aspect I like very much, the objectives remain the same every time you redo the map so expect the feeling of repetition. What could be some pretty cool map themes is heavily bogged down by very unappealing graphics. The gunplay is lackluster, nothing has impact. I preferred just swinging the baseball bat but it didn't feel satisfying like other games with similar melee (Vermintide). None of the lore or plots are interesting, all told through audio logs I felt no drive to collect. Multiplayer is completely dead. Shallow progression, just another skin collectathon lacking actual progress across separate runs. Overall just a game I don't want to return to.

Let me start off by saying this game is a great 20 dollar pickup and even better if you get it on sale, as most other reviewers state its a very cod zombies like style game with a steampunk aspect to it, the best way i can summarize it is bioshock meets world at war/WWII zombies. The guns are very interesting its has a great horror vibe to it. The rounds do creep up in difficulty quickly after round 15 however i enjoy the challenge. The free different style of battle passes included in the game and all the cool cosmetics are a very nice touch. The game runs great and online co op ive had zero issues with. Ive played this game on PS5 and now ive played it on PC so ive put plenty of game time in. My biggest gripe with this game is how claustrophic the maps feel. Theyre a bit too tight and narrow in the majority of the game. I dont think theyre going to add any new content to the game but if they do id love to see maps that have a bit more openess to them like laverock. Otherwise its a fun game to pick up and play.
