I really hope Tempest Rising thrives. It's the closest thing we've got to a proper C&C successor. Gameplay is fantastic. Great missions, excellent skirmish, satisfying base building, and meaningful fights over resources. And the soundtrack? Klepacki, one love. The weakest part is probably the writing and worldbuilding. The conflict between the two factions lacks a clear ideological foundation, and Dynasty's leadership doesn't quite have the charisma or motivation to make their global influence believable. I miss Kane. The factions also feel a bit too familiar: Dynasty is Soviets + GLA + Nod, while GDF is GDI + Generals USA. The C&C DNA is appreciated, but stronger identities would make the world much more interesting. Multiplayer matchmaking could use some work, though one rough match isn't much to judge by. More skirmish maps, new campaign missions, and deeper characters would be great. The gameplay foundation is already excellent. Really hope this game gets the future it deserves.
Disappointed with the DLC being almost $20 for the last faction. Seems nuts to pay around 2/3rds of the original price for the final 1/3rd of the story. Here I was hoping this would be the new command and conquer after EA tanked the franchise... Guess the hopes were for nothing. I cant see myself looking forward to this becoming anything more the a one and done game title if this is how they are going to roll out content.
Great game that captures that old C & C magic, devs have continually updated it since launch. I found the campaigns really enjoyable and are worth a play through for any RTS fan. I have played through the GDF and Dynasty campaigns once each and got around 24 hours of entertainment out of them. skirmish mode is good too, just wish there were more maps or a procedural generated map like the AoE games. Definately worth a buy to support an awesome developer who is actually making new RTS experiences. Also please add a coop survival mode!
The 2026 Command and Conquer! Excellent game!
This game looks like C&C 3 and doesn't hide it. It also reminds me of C&C Tiberian Sun and has a great retro appeal. The feeling is fantastic even after so many years, and the art looks like what those games would look like if released today ... even the clumsy interface is the same. :) The game's value relies mostly on nostalgia, so it would appeal more to ... veteran ;) players IMHO
