Command Boris Todbringer, Elector Count of Middenland in Total War: WARHAMMER III. Beloved by the wolf-god Ulric, Boris seeks to defend the Empire from destruction, and slay his nemesis, the Beastlord Khazrak One-Eye.
Campaign Feature - The Great Temple of Ulric
By defeating the enemies of the Empire, Boris raises the Fervour of his faction. This enables him to develop the Great Temple of Ulric, enhance its six sacred Sanctuaries, and perform great Winter Rites to energise his armies.
Sanctuaries provide numerous permanent bonuses to Boris Todbringer’s faction, and as they are upgraded, the Flame of Ulric grows ever-brighter, earning him the right to recruit powerful Elector State Troopers to bolster his armed forces.

Whoever thought that as beset the Empire is in Immortal Empires, Toddy must babysit his home province from Beastmen focused too much on lore accuracy and ignored gameplay context. This works with the Wood Elves because their entire schtick is upgrading a single region via adjacent ones until the upgrade is finished, then they can move on to the next one. With the Empire, you are dealing with threats from every angle, you don't have time to entertain this mechanic. Of course, the game's "your potential allies will be morons and weaklings, your potential enemies will actually get things done" AI design isn't helping either. In isolation, it'd be a pretty good DLC, but in the context of Immortal Empires as it is right now and how the AI plays, I can only recommend it to those who specifically enjoy playing the Empire.

His main mechanic of the beastmen popping up doesn't even trigger.

Boring Todmilkdrinker stuck at home pruning chaos goats like the forest knife-ears do to build a church I couldn't even tell you does for you except get rid of the hero of WH1, Khazgoat, who in his final battle got swarmed by rando knife-ears and was never seen again. Other factions get a lord like this via their techtree lmao.

TLDR: Good if you like the Empire It is good if you like the Empire, but that is the thing. You *must* like the Empire. If you do not enjoy playing them at all this DLC isn't going to sell you on it. Ulric and the Cult of Ulric (Sigmar's God when he was mortal) is known as the White Wolf and his units reflect that. In all honesty, these are units that the Empire *needed*, the Empire before this lacked in the mid tier infantry. The AI kind of knows how to use and if anything having Boris Toddbringer makes Karl's and Elspeth's campaign easier. But that doesn't cost anything.
Why in the ever-loving glow of the hammer is that when a another ordertide faction comes out the empire seems to get even more dumped on. I get that the empire is supposed to be in constant war but from the south you got hyped up hippies with bows and counts, east you have orks, counts, and some chaos. North is just a constant raiding party from one of the gaggle of goons. And don't even get me started and the rats with modern weapons who got upgraded BEEFY units with this new update. The dwarfs and kislev have been wiped out in 10 turns or less I think my last 10 empire campaigns I have played including my boris run. Who am I supposed to rely on, the weirdos with the ponies in the south? Naw man, forget that full stack of peasants sent to back you up. Literal experience fodder for the chaos factions."I have come to aid you empire friends while riding my murderous griffin. Now go my farmers with pointy sticks and win against gattling guns!".....WHAT! But now, NOW I HAVE BORIS. you play as him, only a slight chance the counts wipe out everyone south of you. You ally with him and only a Slight chance he acts as a wall so you can fight everything else for a few turns. Honestly I am surprised that they did not do an oderertide end game scenario with this last update like " The call of ulric" or some jazz like that when you play as skaven or the counts. Anywho just a ramble, but this campaign is good and the added units do bring a needed boost to the empire lines.
