Its trying to be too much, it leans more into a "life simulator" than a mechanic simulator.
I'm not sure what all the reviews are on about saying it's hard to make money. First off, this game is pretty fun. The map is pretty large and so far there's plenty to do. You start out with a pretty "humble beginnings" with a basic shop. There's skills to level which will make your life easier like bartering lower and higher prices easier. So far I've only noticed a few minor bugs but it seems like they're working on things well. You can also get stuff for lockpicking and hotwiring cars, or for painting and cleaning cars faster. Good stuff. There's some cool features though for building a ride if you want your own personal errand car, engine swaps, nitrous, etc. Some tips for people having a hard time: inspect cars well, it lowers prices. Look for a car with a good gap between the buy price and potential sell price. Don't take the first offer you get, maybe consider sleeping to wait for them to roll in, and taker a good high price. Before you know it, you'll be rolling in funds and cool cars. The tow truck takes no damage, so it's great to go run errands for a while. It's a very fun game so far, zero regrets. I hope they add more cars at some point. I'd love to see more old lambos (jalpa, espada, jarama, those would be sick).

I like this game but i cant stand hittin one thing and total my car to hell and back
Very good so far for the price. Love the wacky elements and how much there is to do. Not much to complain about, it's a fun game.
The game is fun enough. It's not going to blow your mind. If you're looking for in-depth car fixing, then you might want to pass on this one. You basically hit the car with a hammer, wash the car, and paint the car, then you're done. But if you're looking for something to just kill time, then it's pretty good. The biggest issue for me is optimization. I get tons of micro-stutters, especially while driving. For now I'll give this game a recommendation, in the hopes that they improve optimization to make the game smoother.
