Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

This is a good game. Sort of like Jagged alliance but perhaps even better. Not the warmth of JA, but the combat is better
As it stands, this game needs some polish. I don't like games where you have to play and fail in order to learn the game and then restart again. I followed the tutorial and couldn't keep things running. I want games to be fun, I don't want to feel super pressured, it's why I like turn based games. I might pick this up later after it's been worked on some now but it's just stupid to try as-is.
UPDATED REVIEW I am maintaining my Do Not Recommend because while I am still having fun, I'm just not sure If I can do so with my experience of the game. I might just be a masochist. That said. IF you can put a game down for an hour or two and calm yourself down after annoyance, and enjoy Tactical games and cheesy dialogue, you can find enjoyment in this game. There are balance issues and bugs that can and will drive some people up a wall and down the other side, but there is enjoyment here if you can find your way past that. you will loose operators, you will be punished for making a bad choice. That said, the joy of finally completing a mission that gave you a fits before, or getting a fancy piece of gear from a variety of places, can sustain you. I still have to say Thumbs Down on recommendation, but I AM still having fun. The Below is the orginal review, which I am keeping up for honesty and information sake: ORIGINAL REVIEW: Don't make my mistake. Don't purchase this game. I bought this because it had generally favorable reviews and satisfied an itch I had at the time. I even got a good number of hours in before the error of my ways set in. The shift started when the Three Nightmare Missions popped up. A Drug Farm mission, A Mission to capture someone important to the story, and a mission to reclaim a mine. Until this point, missions had been 'hard', which meant that they were difficult but doable. Some moments of light irritation, but I generally had fun. Then these missions popped up, and I EVENTUALLY beat them. If that had been it, it would have been fine...but another mission showed up. Saving Civilians in a combat zone. AKA A Terror Mission, but without the Aliens. That should make it easy, right? Nope, this is Warhounds. You are outnumbered, even more so than normal. The Civilians are spread out all over the map and dropping like flies. You have to save seven, and you only have easy access to 2 if you are lucky. Also, there are enemies hiding among the civilians. Yep. You can 'save a civilian' only to discover it to be an enemy. Guess what else? The enemies will actually SHOOT at these civilians and wound them, only for them to still be undercover baddies and at FULL FRACKING HEALTH!!! when they go turncoat. At that point, I turned it off and might just uninstall to make room for a game that's actually fun. Also, I was playing on the easiest setting and had lost one of my operators on a rescue mission because enemy reinforcements just so happened to drop right beside her. I have heard other stories about this game, when I was searching for info on the Nightmare Missions: There are drone user enemies, that get three drones EACH. While you as the player only get one per deployment. Balance has been complained about, with a particular focus on enemy numbers and aim. I have seen bits of this, with enemies able to make shots on my guys and civilians that my guys wouldn't be allowed to make normally. See my 'civilians dropping like flies' comment above. That said, I can't fully confirm this. If you want tactical games go Zero Company or XCOM, not this.
